Billboards to give way to US$65m sanitation project

SCORES of billboards along Kafue Road will either be removed or repositioned to pave way for the construction works of the Lusaka sanitation project, says Lusaka City Council assistant public relations manager Brenda Katongola.

Ms. Katongola said that LCC will next month remove 34 billboards along the road and would soon write to the owners about the project so that they could have them relocated elsewhere.

She said works were scheduled to begin anytime in June and the notice should be within 30 days.

The US$65 million project intended to increase access to sanitation services in selected areas of Lusaka and strengthen the Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company’s capacity to manage sanitation services will start from Makeni mall traffic lights to Kafue Roundabout.
