LCC refutes reports of failing to pay April salaries

THE Lusaka City Council (LCC) has refuted reports that some of its employees have not been paid their April salaries.

The LCC public relations manager Mulunda Habeenzu said the claims were not true because the council had paid all its workers.

Mr. Habeenzu, however, said only a few casual workers had not been paid their allowances and that management was looking into the issue.

“It is not true because everyone has been paid. Only a few casual workers have not yet been paid because they are paid in groups.

“I am aware that some casual workers from Nakatindi Hall have not been paid yet and it’s not like the council has failed to pay; the authority is looking into the issue,” Mr. Habeenzu said. He was reacting to complaints from some council employees who were reported to be planning a protest to force management to pay them their April wages.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the unpaid employees wanted to pressurise the local authority management to consider their plight.
