For me, blessing is when prayer is answered. In some instances, blessings may be poured upon a person or a nation, by our father, Lord God Almighty Jehova Jireh, without a prayer said, whatsoever, this is by God’s own grace but by and large, prayer is the main source of many blessings we may enjoy from God the Most High.
In our quoted scripture today, in Numbers 14:28, the Bible says “Say unto them, as truly as I live, saith the Lord, as y have spoken in my ears, so will I do unto you. This is the assurance we get from our Lord, Father God Almighty El-shaddai, that whatsoever we shall ask, in prayer, shall certainly be granted.
In Mathew 21:22, the Bible says “whatever you will ask in my name, it shall be given” our Lord Jesus Christ said those words. And in Luke 11:9, we get an encouragement on prayer as the Bible says “And I say unto you, ask and it shall be given you, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you.”
If a son wants bread, you the father, even though a sinner will not give his son a stone, and God will give us what we ask from him (Luke 11:11). A friend of mine had at one time planned to sell one of his four houses, due to financial challenges; he was going through at that particular time.
He did not like the idea of selling of one of his houses, because he realized that it was going to deplete his monthly income, consequently will cause new challenges on how to survive on a low income. But because of the prevailing situation at that particular time, the only solution to the problem was to have one house sold, and his prayer was that it should be sold without much problems.
But God had a different plan for my friend, as the Bible says, “Your thoughts are not my thoughts neither your ways my ways. (Isaiah 55:8)
It so happened that one of his tenants heard about the predicament in which his Landlord had fallen in, filled with pity, he was ready to help out. After talking to his Landlord, the tenant made available the amount of money required by his landlord for him to serve the prevailing problem. Terms and conditions were as fair as that of a soft loan.
Our God indeed intervened in a divine manner as the Landlord was happy at last and no house was sold out.
The Landlord remembered what was written in the book of Isaiah 41:13 which says “for I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, fear not, I will help thee.” To have fear is normal, but when it occurs, we should kneel down and pray and the Lord God Almighty will hold us by the right hand and fear will melt down.
Some problems seem insurmountable to human eyes and thought, but believers know that every problem, regardless of its size, can easily be dealt with by our father Lord God Almighty. With God everything is possible.
Prayer is always cardinal in a life of a Christian it does not matter in whatever situation we find ourselves, be it good or bad, that is either favorable or infavourable, in happiness or sadness.
In 2011, I was diagnosed to have a prostate problem. This is one medical problem with a very negative prognosis in most cases. I therefore engaged myself in prayer to my Lord, Father God, Almighty Jehovah Jireh.
The more I prayed, the worse the condition became, but I never relented in praying for my survival.
I remembered the story of King Hezekiah whose prayer was in a way full of credentials, he desired to remind God, even though God never forgets, of how faithful he was in serving the only God of Israel. Itemizing his good activities before the Lord, after so much prayer, King Hezekiah was told that, he was not going to die. His number of years to live on earth was lengthened by fifteen years. I decided to pray taking King Hezekiah’s model of presenting my credentials, while my prostate was getting worse by the day.
It is not easy to imagine the suffering that people who are suffering from a prostate go through, unless you have had it or had the agonizing situation of being on the bedside of such a patient. The agony prostate patients go through before they either die or miraculously survive is inexplicable. As I prayed, all the time, for my survival, I remembered what is written in the book of 1st Samuel 12:22, which says, “The lord will not abandon his people, because that would dishonor his great name. For it has pleased the Lord to make you his own very people.” I was greatly strengthened by this scripture.
In March, 2012, my Doctor decided that I go for operation as the last effort in promoting my quality of life. I obliged without hesitation. I learned on the day of my operation, that some of my fellow patients were going to the theater for the second or third time for operation, because the first operation or the second in some cases had a number of complications. I vehemently prayed against complications, not in my case, I prayed to my Lord as I lay on my sick bed in the theater waiting bay. For me, even dying from a prostate never crossed my mind, as I was always being strengthened by prayer every day.
My chances of survival after the operation were well explained to me. But I had my hope much more on the goodness of God than human experience. The operation went on successfully without any complications.
Now, by God’s grace, I am as fit as a fiddle, and steadily by God’s grace adding on age. Our God is good all the time. God’s mercy upon me has greatly motivated me to serve my Lord God Almighty to the best of my mind and strength.
My suffering has completely disappeared. Praise and worship to my Lord is what I do and by God’s Grace will continue doing that for the rest of my life.
What God has done to me in terms of healing, he can also do it for you.
We must always have faith in God as we pray (Mark 11:22-25). Believers should avoid the kind of casual praying for whatever reason. Praying to God for anything is a serious business. While Jesus was on earth, he offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could rescue him from death. And God heard his prayers because of his reverence for God (Hebrews 5:7). We should always be sure we are praying with reverent, submission, willing to do what God wants. It is true to say that God will not forsake those who pray to him in Ernest and truth.
Wealth and honour both come from God. These are made possible either by prayer or merely by the grace of God. For those who receive wealth from God by grace, will later on realize that it is not by their power and might that they are able to amass so much wealth, the source of such is our God, they therefore worship and honour God of Israel for his great favour upon them.
For those who have received honour from God, must also honour God, and the Lord will add a surplus of the anointing (1st Chronicles 29:12). Individuals who receive wealth and honour from God by grace, will offer thanks-giving prayer and by so doing they honour God. Prayer is essential for every believer, it works as a barometer of their faith in our Lord God Almighty the Most High.
We may not have faith as big as a mustard seed to move mountains (Mathew 17:20) but enough faith to please God is perhaps what most believers will require, as by that, their prayers can be answered.
In the Book of 1st Samuel 2:7, the Bible says, “The Lord maketh poor and maketh rich, he bringeth low and lifeth up.”
Since it remains for Him to make an individual rich or poor and to let you remain low or be lifted high in society, humanity therefore has no option but to support those who are lifted up, either at a work place or anywhere else in society and pray to the almighty God, Jehova Jireh, the provider to give us what we ask in supplication.
Those said to be born with a silver spoon have already received the grace of God, at the same time, if one person has been lifted by God to a higher level, then we cannot fight such a person or else we shall be fighting against God. And if God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31). To be rich, there is nothing to boast about, and no need to be arrogant because of being rich, since riches come from God.
It is God who gives the power to be rich (Deuteronomy 8:18). And above all, a person will be rich only if it delights God. As believers, we should pray for the future of our children, other members of the family, our spouses, friends and other people we meet on the way as we sojourn in this world. Never to be a vulgarian. A friend of mine told me a story of his son who failed his Grade 7 at first attempt.
That friend of mine prayed without ceasing for a successful life for his son.
Now the son is a PHD holder, has been working in the diaspora for more than ten years, and his sister has just attained her second degree from Copenhagen University in Denmark.
This is a great benefit of prayer. Answered prayers manufacture Testimonies. In the next part we shall continue with the same topic on prayer and how we should pray. May the Lord God Almighty, Jehovah Jireh bless us all. Amen.
