PRESIDENT Lungu is a unifying and peace-loving leader who deserves re-election in order for the country to continue with the economic development and poverty reduction, says Independent Churches of Zambia (ICOZ) Director David Masupa.
He said that the country was at a critical time and could not afford to experiment with leadership when it had a “a man of God in Office” who has demonstrated that he can hold the country together during times of hardships.
Bishop Masupa affirmed that President Lungu is a tested leader who has shown resilience under pressure and could be trusted to move Zambia to a higher level where it boasts of higher GDP and lowered inflation.
“I speak not only as a clergy but also an academician when I say my confidence and that of a large section of the Christian community in Zambia presently lie in President Lungu’s continued leadership,” he said.
Bishop Masupa said Mr Lungu had with remarked ease won the hearts of the Christian community in Zambia and abroad, a crucial ingredient to good leadership because it signified humility and faith.
“I have said before and I am saying again that President Lungu as a transition President during a time of a huge global economic melt-down has more than proved that he is equal to the task…he needs Zambia’s support to continue on his path of recovery because change for the sake of it could be catastrophic,” he said.
The clergyman was speaking in Stockholm, Sweden as he wound up his international programme in neighbouring Finland on his way back to Zambia.
