Government has given the women of Buyantanshi in Kitwe land for agricultural purposes so that they can look after their families.
And Kitwe District Commissioner Chanda Kabwe has pledged to give the Buyantashi Women of Vision K5, 000 to boost their entrepreneurial activities.
Mr Kabwe said government had decided to empower the Buyantanshi Women of Vision with land because they had shown that they were innovative and creative in their efforts to become self-sustaining as a Women Association which has more than 20 members.
The Kitwe District Commissioner was speaking yesterday in Chamboli township of Kitwe during the Buyantanshi Women of Vision Sharing Out Programme where members were sharing out what they had invested in their various businesses.
“So let me assure you that before the end of this month, government will give you a piece of land for agricultural purposes. As DC, when I get paid this month, I will also give you K5,000. You come to the office and get the money,” Mr Kabwe said.
He also promised the Buyantanshi Women of Vision that he would give them agricultural inputs once they were ready to start agricultural activities on the land they would be given.
Mr Kabwe, who is also patron for the marketeers, said Government had concentrated on empowering women so that they could look after their families.
And Buyantanshi Women of Vision Secretary Erica Chibuye Nyirenda said the women were grateful to the government for responding positively to the appeals for land, funds and other things which the organisation had been looking for.
