COACH George Lwandamina has called a 22-man provisional squad for the Council of Southern Africa Football Association (COSAFA) Castle Cup billed for Namibia from June 11 to 25.
The four times champions will be seeking a fifth title since 2013 finals when they beat Zimbabwe 2-0 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium
Chipolopolo team manager Stanley Kaseko said the players were scheduled to go into residential camp from April 24 to 27 in Ndola.
Kaseko further said the players were scheduled to arrive in Ndola on Sunday ahead of training the next day.
“Coach Lwandamina has called 22 players to the provisional team set to begin preparations for the COSAFA Castle Cup tournament.
“The training programme was also part of the preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations qualification match against Guinea Bissau on June 4,” said Kaseko.
Lwandamina has maintained three quarters of the team that participated at the 2016 CHAN tournament in Rwanda early this year.
He has, however, recalled Power Dynamos striker Patson Daka and Red Arrows Festus Mbewe. He has left out veterans Isaac Chansa and Christopher Katongo who were instrumental at CHAN.
Defenders Benedict Chepeshi and Adrian Chama of Green Buffaloes have attracted Lwandamina’s call up. Zambia won the title in 1997, 98, 2006 and 2013.
