ANOTHER man of Lusaka’s Zingalume Compound has been killed in yet another suspected ritual murder.
Police deputy Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga confirmed the incident yesterday.
And residents in the area have called on police to intensify patrols in the area.
They accused police officers of having only been patrolling the main roads, leaving out some of the roads where the actual crime took place.
Mr. Hamoonga identified the deceased as Anthony Mwaba aged 30 years.
He disclosed that Anthony’s body was discovered by the residents yesterday morning about 500 meters away from his home.
Mr. Hamoonga said the body was found without the heart, ears and private parts.
“Yesterday, we picked up a body of a male person, Anthony Mwaba, aged 30 years of house no 376 off Twikatane Road in George Compound.
“The body was picked about 300 to 500 meters away from his house along a centre road leading to his residence. The body had no heart, both ears and private part,” he said.
Anthony is the sixth victim of suspected ritual killings reported in George Compound this year.
Mr. Hamoonga appealed to residents of George Compound to remain calm and cooporate with the police. “We are making an earnest appeal to residents not to panic, but cooperate with the police as we are working and trying with all legal means at our disposal to resolve this heinous crime as soon as possible,” Mr Hamoonga said.
Meanwhile, residents of Chunga almost rioted yesterday, after information alleging that police in the area had arrested two people in connection with the suspected ritual killings.
A check by the Daily Nation crew which rushed to the scene found roads leading to the police post barricaded with rocks as irate residents attempted to burn down the police post.
The residents alleged that the two suspects were found with human body parts in a plastic bag.
