Kanyama lags in development – MP aspirant

ASPIRING Member of Parliament for Kanyama constituency has pledged to spearhead massive infrastructure development in the area once voted for as it lacks development, Jiptus Mwanza has charged.

Mr. Mwanza, who is the ward councillor for Munkolo Ward 12, said people needed someone who was ever concerned with their health and well-being.

In an interview with Daily Nation, he said lack of water, good sanitary conditions and the collection of garbage by the waste management team of the Public Health department of the Lusaka City Council was a great challenge as it posed high risks of contracting water-borne diseases.

However, Mr. Mwanza said that they had since sunk a borehole which would be handed over to the community next month. He further said that a clinic in Kakole ward was now operational. Mr. Mwanza asserted that he would work with Pave Zambia 400 to uplift the face of old Kanyama with modern facilities such as markets as well as improve the drainage systems.

He said once elected he would purchase two tractors for both old and new Kanyama meant to be used for collection of garbage since the two areas did not have litter trucks.

He has further promised to facilitate the construction of clinics in John Laing and Chibolya  compounds.

He said he was looking forward to working with some churches so that more youths could easily be identified and empowered in agriculture, metal fabrication and carpentry

And Mr. Mwanza noted that government was spending huge sums of money on youth empowerment, but nothing tangible was coming out.
