And Simeon said “Sovereign Lord, now let your servant die in peace, as you have promised. I have seen your salvation, which you have prepared for all people. He is a light to reveal God to the Nations, and he is the glory of your people Israel” (Luke 2:29). Simeon was a man of the Temple in Jerusalem, where baby Jesus was taken by his parents for purification according to the Law of Moses. When Simeon saw baby Jesus, the Spirit of God was upon him, and recognized Jesus as the Savior or Salvation. This baby Jesus was the same person – salvation on the cross at Calvary.
Christ Jesus did not die at Calvary for the Jews only, but for all humanity, including the Gentiles. Revealing our Lord God Almighty Jehovah Jireh, to all Nations is a giantic exercise. And Jesus Christ, while on earth had made adequate preparations to ensure no person will ever say “Master I never heard your people preaching the Word”. Perhaps at that time, our Lord Christ Jesus will point a finger at a person you will recognize as your neighbor on earth, a preacher and had made several attempts coming to your home, wanting to preach the word of God, but you declared you did not have time to listen to the Word. Without realizing it, by rejecting the attention of the man of God, you were rejecting salvation since the Word is Jesus Christ who is Salvation The responsibility of those anointed to preach the word are aware that salvation comes to man by the grace of God. In some instances certain people receive salvation because of what they see happening in life. Let us take the case of the jailor in Philippi (Acts 16:16-40) Paul and Silas were in prison when the two men of God started praying, praising and worshipping God in songs, something strange happened in prison. There was an earthquake. Even though they were chain ganged, these started unlocking, seemingly by an invisible person. Suddenly, Paul and Silas were free from those chains. The jailor was surprised and impressed.
He therefore went to Paul and Silas and said “Sirs, what shall I do to be saved” Acts 16: 30 – 31and Paul and Silas responded by saying, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and though shall be saved and thy house”.
It pleased Paul and Silas that at least a jailor and his entire household had received Jesus as their savior. They actually received salvation. St Paul of Tarsis, was Turkish, he was a brave preacher and whose character changed the course of his life. His destination completely changed when he met Jesus Christ on his way to Damascus to persecute believers.
The grace of God was upon St. Paul (earlier named Saul). He found salvation by the grace of God. Because St. Paul first rejected the word which was preached by those who were anointed to preach, he therefore rejected salvation. As it is written in Jonah 2:9, that salvation is of the Lord.
Because not all who call Father Father will be called to the kingdom of God (Mathew 7:21), only those who will attract the grace of God will receive the salvation of our Lord God Almighty Jehovah Jireh, by obeying the commands of our Lord Christ Jesus. The word of God is preached, it is now up to the Power of God to give us salvation Romans 1:16. The power to save does not come by human effort, but the Holy Spirit takes over to show compassion to those to be saved.
Before our Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross, he left a very strong Task Force responsible for Evangelism in Jerusalem, Samaria, Judea and the whole territory of Israel. The twelve disciples courageously exactly did that after receiving the promised Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit did not only give them courage but as well there was added knowledge of God and did not forget whatever teachings hey received from our Master and Saviour the Lord Christ Jesus.
As we preach the Word of God, it is always good to remember that, the Good News is the Gospel, and the Gospel is the Word of God, and the Word of God is Christ Jesus, the Son of God. In the Gospel is our salvation, so that when people believe in the Lord, will not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). The gospel of Christ is the power of God which brings about salvation to those who believe Rom 1:16. As it is written in Rome 1:17. Thus “This good news tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the scripture says “It is through faith that a righteous person has life”. To have salvation is to have life everlasting. The grace of God can bring salvation even to a non-believer as it happened to Saul – later called Paul. Acts 9: 1–5.
It is a duty for each individual to work out own salvation. Philippians 2:12 says “wherefore my beloved as you have always obeyed, not in my presence only, but now much more in my absence work out your own salvation with fear and trembling” In seeking salvation, indulgence is important, and this does not require to be supervised in order to do what is right in the presence of God. It is about self-determination and the confidence to achieve or perform according to the expected results.
In reality, to praise and worship God in to obey the commands of Jesus Christ and His Father, Lord God Almighty Jehovah Jireh. This is because, by God’s own grace, our Father, Lord God Almighty made it possible for salvation to appear to all (Titus 2:11) and that the command of God are the commands of Jesus Christ, because both, the Father God Almighty Jehovah Jireh and His Son our Lord Christ Jesus are one 1st John 5:6-7).
And it was Jesus who gave himself at Calvary, for our sins (Galatians 1-4). Just in the same way, it is our Lord Father God Almighty Jehovah Jireh who calls people to Himself. Galatians 1:6.
This is the reason why there is only one Gospel, the Gospel of Christ Jesus, when the gospel is preached they believe and have faith in the Lord, and we know that according to Hebrews 11:6, it is not possible to please God without faith. Therefore, evangelism, believing and faith are intertwined. It is not easy to separate them. Without evangelism, people cannot believe, and without faith, people will die in sin (Hosea 4:6). If our Lord God Almighty Jehovah Jireh, only by His grace releases salvation upon his people, then He will declare them righteous as He did to Abraham, but if for some reason, this salvation is lost, then it is impossible to regain the lost salvation (Hebrew 6:4-6). The Bible says “for it is impossible for those who were once enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost”. Such unfortunate situation should not be common when individuals who once feared God and obeyed His commands find reason for abandoning the faith deliberately.
For how long this may take place before a person may be declared as having lost the faith (salvation) nobody knows except God Himself. It is only by His grace that God releases salvation upon an individual and in the same way it is by His desire that He will remove salvation from any individual, who abandons the faith.
People of all Nations should be given the opportunity to hear the Word of God and experience his power. 1st Thess. 1:5. It is the only way salvation will be meaningful to humanity. Without preaching the Word of God, then, Christ and His Father Lord God Almighty Jehovah Jireh, will not be revealed to humanity. And the source of salvation and its purpose will not be known.
What is salvation, it is deliverance, it is a state of security, saved, rescued or forgiveness of sins. It was the reason our Lord Jesus Christ who is salvation (Luke 2:30) came down on earth to die for our sins.
And reasons for preaching is in Acts 26:18 which says “To open their eyes and turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan into God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me”.
Our role therefore as believers is to continue to preach the Word of God, obey the commands of Christ Jesus, hold fast to our faith and continue to pray for His eternal blessings upon us until when death will find us. Amen.
