Is HH changing goal posts on economy?

If I correctly read HH’s comments in the Post of April 6 on fixing the economy, then I am beginning to have my misgivings about him.

He is now saying “together’’ we will fix the economy. This is total departure from his earlier statements in which he boasted that only him had the cure to our economic problems.

So why is he now saying ‘‘together’’? This tells a lot about him now.

He has probably seen that no one man can claim to have the monopoly of wisdom in solving problems, especially those of the nation. It is good he is sobering up. Like I earlier stated, these politicians are just the same. Once they get into power they change their colours like chameleons.

As for HH he will probably tell us that he should be given time to clean the mess left by PF and this will take him five years or more while we continue to wallow in abject poverty.

From what I know, running a country is not like supervising a ranch, a milling plant or being a chairman of a few companies in which you don’t expend your brains. It is more challenging than that.

I know it is much cooler to shout from outside but when HH and indeed any other person gets into State House they will soon realise that the problems which they thought they could fix in a few weeks are just too much to patch up.

It is simple to be an armchair critic and I know from the bottom of my heart that problems of falling copper prices cannot be corrected by HH or any other one individual.

Even the issue of effects of climate change which have led to droughts cannot be fixed by any individual.

So if those in opposition are saying they will create rains or fix the price of copper they are not telling the truth and should not be trusted with the affairs of the country.

I strongly feel that it is time that politicians begin to tell Zambians the truth and stop playing to the gallery as doing so will not help them.

State House may be sweet but it has its own price. Ask those who have been there.

Wynter Kabimba boring us to the marrow

Please Mr Wynter Kabimba stop discussing other parties and concentrate on your small Rainbow Party, even if I know it is not going anywhere. This is a fact which even you and the Post know.

We all know that you have spent most of your good political time in PF, why did you then not clean what you are condemning today?

You were PF’s most senior official and wielded immense power that you could fly to any part of Zambia at the flick of your finger. We all know this.

When you were flying around Zambia even on frivolous missions, did you realise you were burning expensive aircraft fuel without any thought of tomorrow?

You even had the courage to ‘‘hide our Constitution in your office because you thought you were untouchable until the unanticipated happened to you. President Sata sacked you and you fell like a puppet on the string.

If there is more corruption in PF today, it goes without saying that you contributed to it because you were one of the founders of the party who laid the base for corruption. Now the seed of corruption might have germinated and thanks to you.

But does your denigration make you a saint today because you have formed your little political party? I don’t think so.

Don’t they say that you can take the villager to town but you cannot take the village out of him?

I personally think that people like Kabimba have a lot to explain to the people of Zambia, but certainly not through his unworkable socialism which is a lifeless conception the world over.

If he is open, he should truthfully retrace his steps and see what he contributed to Zambia when he was a BIG PF man of the moment.

I can tell him straight in his face that even the famous ‘‘Donchi Kubeba’’ thing has outlived its purpose and is now only used in passing.

For all I know Wynter, you are still PF in your heart of hearts while wearing a Rainbow jacket.

Why Nawakwi wants PF alliance

‘‘PF alliance best – Nawakwi’’. This headline and story appeared in the Daily Nation of Tuesday, April 5, 2016.

A few weeks ago the FDD president Edith Nawakwi had claimed that PF wanted her to be running mate but turned it down.

The PF challenged her to produce evidence and said she was grovelling to be a running mate.

It does not therefore surprise anyone that the FDD president has now finally come out in the open with twisted thinking that the reasons for her supporting PF is that President Lungu’s term will end in 2021. And then she will be President! At least we now know why she is attacking the UPND and its leader HH. And we also know why she is not attacking other opposition parties.

UPND is a real contender.
