Ex-Scouts’ boss in the dock


FORMER Chief Commissioner of Zambia Association of Scouts has been dragged to the Lusaka Magistrates Court on charges of theft.

John Mulumba, 52, of Kalulushi is dragged to court after he was accused of stealing more than K 6,000.

Mulumba now a teacher could not take plea as he did not appear in court to answer his charge.

He is expected to appear in court soon before Magistrate Sheila Mweene. Mulumba is charged with one count of theft contrary to the laws of Zambia.

He is between August 1 and September 30 last year alleged to have stolen K 6,389 property of the Zambia Association of Scout.

Mulumba was arrested without warrant on October 18 last year.

Meanwhile, a 21-year-old pregnant woman of Lusaka’s Chazanga compound denied beating a nurse of Chazanga clinic.

Elizabeth Nkonde Nguni denied assaulting a 65-year-old Betty Mubili occasioning her actual bodily harm.

Nguni who appeared before Magistrate Sylvia Munyinya said she understood the charge but denied laying her hands on Ms Mubili.

Nguni is charged with one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to section 248 of the laws of Zambia .

She is on December 15 last year alleged to have assaulted Mubili at Chazanga clinic thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm.

The matter comes up on April 18 for trial.
