NKANA yesterday extended their unbeaten run in the 2016 MTN/FAZ Super League to three matches after they beat Mufulira Blackpool 3-1 in a double header played at Arthur Davis Stadium in Kitwe.
The Kitwe giants came from behind to unleash three beautiful goals much to the shock of the new entrant Blackpool.
Nkana kicked off the game on a high note but failed to break down a solid Blackpool defence.
Blackpool scored in the 43rd minute through Laston Katuta but their celebration was short lived as Nkana equalised two minutes later through Jacob Ngulube before the dot of half time.
The ‘Kalampa’ boys came back in full force taking possession of the game with Fred Tshimanga and Walter Bwalya causing havoc in the Blackpool defence.
However, Tshimanga increased the goal advantage for Nkana after the Blackpool defenders failed to clear their lines. Ngulube added the icing to the cake when he scored the third goal for Nkana which demoralised Blackpool.
The victory extended Nkana’s lead on the table to nine points.
Meanwhile, in the other double header, defending champions Zesco United beat hosts Power Dynamos 2-1 in an exciting match that attracted a fully-packed Arthur Davis Stadium.
Zesco opened the lead in the 49th minute through striker Idriss Mbombo after the Power defence failed to clear the ball.
The George Lwandamina tutored boys continued to press for a second goal, and it was in the 60th minute when Jesse Were gave Zesco the much needed goal.
Power failed to impress their fans who called for a consolation goal. However, it was in added time that Martin Phiri gave his side a consolation goal after Zesco lost concentration.
Lwandamina said the 2-1 win was a morale booster for the team ahead of Saturday’s CAF Champions League second round match against Stade Malien of Mali. Zesco still has two games in hand.
In other matches, Nakambala Leopards beat Nkwazi 1-0 through a Venacious Mapande goal. Solwezi outfit Lumwana Radiants collected three points after beating Forest Rangers 2-1.
