The African Union (AU) through its Sports and Social Affairs Department has congratulated newly elected Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) executive whom it has wished a productive tenure of office.
This is contained in a statement issued by First Secretary for Press and Tourism at the Zambian Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Naomi Chulu.
The AU head of division, Sport Department for social Affairs, Machacha Shepande, said the Union was excited with the pronouncements by the new FAZ executive committee to embark on transformation reforms that would improve football in Zambia.
Shepande expressed confidence that the new FAZ president Kamanga would use his knowledge and experience to impact positively to the development of football.
He urged the new executive to learn from the past experiences in Zambian football in order to strategize for the future
Shepande who is former FAZ and National Sport Council of Zambia general secretary said there was need for football and sports organizations in general to ensure that there was forward planning in order to transform events into programmes.
He noted that event forecasting would help local organizations set their own sports agenda and become proactive.
He also paid glowing tribute to the past Kalusha Bwalya led executive for having managed to deliver the African Cup of Nations trophy during its tenure of office.
