Governance activist David Kapoma says President Edgar Lungu is equal to the task because Government is doing very well on infrastructure development.
In his open letter to the President dubbed “You are equal to the task”, Mr Kapoma said President Lungu was committed to serving the Zambian people as evidenced by his leadership.
He said it was unfair to blame President Lungu for all the challenges which the nation was facing.
Mr Kapoma said most of the challenges President Lungu was facing he inherited them from the previous governments.
He has also appealed to the Head of State to ensure that the country was united before the next general elections.
“Our political cadres don’t need to clash every time they meet. Don’t allow this to happen when you are still the father of our nation.
“I know you can put a stop to this lawlessness, Mr. President. You are equal to the task. I ask that you embrace a bipartisan approach to our problems as a nation. Our job Mr. is to ensure that we give you enough support as you do your best in moving our country from the pits of poverty,” Mr Kapoma said.
He said he wanted to appeal to President Lungu as the father of the nation in good faith, in humility and in the interest of the nation.
‘First of all I am for the idea that you must be facing a lot of challenges. But I assure you that you are not alone as many Zambians are facing even bigger challenges.
“Many people who have their hopes on your stewardship are almost lost and feeling abandoned in a wildernesses we have created for ourselves as a nation. We have not helped you enough as citizens,” Mr Kapoma said. He said those who supported him (Lungu) agreed and supported him even when he made a bad decision.
