THE Registrar of Societies should immediately deregister the United Party for National Development (UPND) and any other political party perpetrating violence, says Change Life Zambia board chairperson John Chilima.
But UPND spokesperson Charles Kakoma said Change Life Zambia must first call for the deregistration of the Patriotic Front because it was the one promoting violence.
Mr Chilima said the unruly behaviour of cadres as though they were in the ruling seat qualified the deregistration of the UPND without any further delay.
He said it was unfortunate for opposition cadres to attack leaders touring development projects in Zambia, particularly in Southern Province.
“It is not a crime to explain Government projects in areas which lacked those developments since 1964,” Mr Chilima said.
He said Change Life Zambia believed that the opposition was no longer the positive force it should have been. Mr Chilima said his organisation believed in a God fearing leader and not one full of envy and wanting to rule at all cost.
“Change Life Zambia supports the declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation and that Zambia is for Christ and not the devil. We say no to darkness but welcome the light which is Jesus Christ,” he said. He further challenged the opposition political parties to offer alternative solutions to current economic challenges Zambia was facing. But Mr Kakoma described Change Life Zambia as an organisation of jokers.
He said if it were a serious organisation, it should instead call for the deregistration of the ruling party for them to be taken seriously.
“That is a PF sponsored organisation; everybody knows that political violence in Zambia has been sponsored by the PF. So if they are concerned about the political violence, let them start with the deregistration of the PF before they look at other political parties.
“Evidence is there to show that PF are violent so if they are calling for the deregistration of the PF then we will take them seriously, otherwise they are jokers,” he said.
