Soybean value chain talks set for Lusaka

A soybeans value chain conference intended to encourage investment in the sector will be taking place in Lusaka from 7th to 8th April 2016.

The conference, organized by the Zambia Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI) in collaboration with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) project called Yapasa, is intended to attract investment in the soybean sector. Yapasa was formerly called rural youth enterprises for food security. According to ZACCI, the objective of the conference was to align the soybean sub-sector partner and stakeholder efforts to common implementation frameworks.

The conference which will be officially opened by ministry of commerce, trade and industry permanent secretary Ms Kayula Siame in Lusaka The conference hopes to bring together the soybeans value chain supporters at different levels mainly the donor supported organizations and relevant line ministries.

The conference sets the ground for a wider stakeholder dialogue event involving various actors along the value chain such as input suppliers, producers, processors, consumers, financiers as well as sector supporters.

Specific conference objective is to enable sector stakeholders discuss and share sector specific challenges, opportunities and recommendations for improvement

It will also enable Yapasa and other value chain supporters understand the challenges and opportunities in the sector to guide effective design of interventions that respond to real issues faced by market players ZACCI is confident that the conference will further present opportunity for market players and other stakeholders to network.
