Kalabo gets K17m youth trade centre

A K17 million ultra-modern youth trade centre in Kalabo district has benefitted hundreds of youths in the district, says the district commissioner Freda Luhila.

Ms Luhila said Government was determined to ensure youths acquired relevant skills so that they could sustain their lives.

She encouraged youths to form legal entities such as cooperatives to enable them access the funds and assets so that they could benefit from the national cake.

“The PF Government under the able leadership of President Lungu has built a K17,000,000 ultra-modern youth training centre in Kalabo to ensure a number of youths also benefit from this,” she said.

Ms Luhila said the people of Kalabo were thrilled with such a massive human resource investment.

She said the people of Kalabo were blessed because the massive development in the area, including the much awaited Mongu-Kalabo road, would economically benefit them directly.

Ms Luhila said she was happy with the massive infrastructure investment undertaken by the PF government on the 35-km  road project, among other projects in the district.

She said the road would stir trade ties between Zambia and Angola as well as improve the livelihood of the people.

“All those projects are aimed to benefit people because the Government is geared to develop Western Province and Zambia as a whole,” she said.

Ms Luhila said the Mongu-Kalabo road had done away with the expensive water transport which the people of Mongu and Kalabo were used to when travelling between the two areas.

And Ms Luhila called for peace and unity during the run-up to the general election, saying the people of Kalabo must focus on issue-based messages and avoid political violence.
