It is the desire of every believer to do everything possible in order to please God, just as Abraham did, also his son Isaac and his grandson Jacob – later called Israel.
The Bible is very clear on this subject, that is if we are to truly and successfully please our Lord, Father God Almighty, we should not err on this very important matter due to ignorance on what the scripture says (Matt 22-29).
It is written in Hebrews 11:6, thus “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to Him, must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him”. This therefore provides a vital guideline on what we should do in order to please God. It means that believers should use faith as frequently as an old frail man/woman would use a walking stick. Leaving behind our faith when we serve our Lord, would be done in total vain. No man has ever seen God and yet we believers faithfully believe in His existence, and this is what pleases God Almighty the Most High, Alpha and Omega. It is important to realize that faith comes by hearing the word of God.
We please our Lord God Almighty, when we faithfully believe in the creation of heaven and earth, even though we were not there when it took place (Genesis 1:1) our Lord and Father God Almighty Jehovah Jireh, who is God of ages made all to happen by His divine word full of His power. We sometimes wonder how our world came to be. But in Genesis 1-1, we find the answer. God created the earth and everything in it, and created humans like himself. We may not understand the complexity of just how He did it, but it is very clear that God did create all life. This shows not only God’s authority over humanity but His deep love for all people.
Believers in God and in His Son Jesus Christ, faithfully believe all what pertains to the creation of the earth, heavens and humanity. And according to the Bible, this is the kind of faith that pleases God. That is, first we recognize Gods existence and all what follows by His only Power. We recognize by faith, the power of God to hold the universe in its position, so firmly held that the universe never tilts on its imaginary axis.
In Exodus 3:6 Moses, saw a burning bush and was told to take off his sandals, as he was standing on holy ground. When Moses tried to inquire who was talking to him, the voice said “I am the God of your father – the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. Moses believed that he was talking to the Most high. This is what pleases God.
Abraham’s faith in God, caused him to receive promises from God which he wonderfully fulfilled. Abraham became the founder of the Jewish nation. His faith in God, pleased our Father, Lord God Almighty causing Abraham not only very prosperous, but also enjoyed long life. Abraham, pleased God, even more, when he recognized the mercies of God for counting him as righteous.
Faith in God as expressed by the servant of God Abraham, in the search for a wife for Isaac, most certainly pleased God. Abraham expressed so much faith in that his servant sent to look for Isaac’s wife did not have any problems at all. As Rebecca was quickly found. Genesis 24:1-34.
Recognition of the power of God to intervene in matters that concern individuals certainly pleases God, as was the case with Jacob. His wife Rachael desired to have a child and confronted her husband Jacob for a baby. The answer from Jacob was in the way to recognize the power of God for people to have children. And so Jacob answered back “I cannot take the place of God” Genesis 30:2. That was a great answer of faith, indeed. The recognition of such power coming from God really pleases God. The same goes to what is written in Deuteronomy 8:18, where it is written “Remember the Lord your God. He is the one who gives you the power to be successful (rich) in order to fulfill the covenant he swore to your ancestors with an oath”. An err is made when we think that our riches have come about due to our efforts only, truly this is not the case.
Many people of the world have made great efforts to be rich, but this has never been possible. It is God who provides all what it takes to be rich, starting with opportunities, right sense of mind for making right decisions, good health and above all saves one’s life as a person struggles to achieve the intended objective. The environment to be rich is taken care of by God Almighty.
When there is a hand of God, surely no effort can ever turn into bilge. After all, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31), no body at all, when we are able to faithfully recognize this fact, then we are capable of pleasing God.
In all cases of illnesses, the recognition of the fact that God has power to heal the sick, will please God, if such recognition is faithfully done and the sick shall certainly be healed. As it happened in the days of Christ Jesus, when the sick were healed of their diseases, so shall be the same today. For God never changes, yesterday, today and tomorrow.
It is written in the book of James 5:14. There is truth in saying that the Lord God Almighty heals the sick. Our medical personnel with knowledge and skill to heal the sick get all the skill from God. All skill of any kind is gotten from God, be it engineering, art, even those who are called genius, highly talented in different fields of human endeavor, it is by God’s grace that such knowledge and skill is attained. (Exodus 31:1-10 and Exodus 35:30-35).
When God, in His own desire and wisdom, decides not to take a life, be it in an accident or mere illness, it is wrong to think that survival was observed because it was not time for such an individual to die. Who really knows when we are going to die? The best thing to do when we survive in an accident or sickness is to thank God for life that has been saved. To say that it was not yet time to die and had nothing to do with God’s grace is unbelief and therefore sin (Rev 21:8). Just as much as we can appreciate the competences of those who take care of the sick, the divine hand of God in all matters of healing processes should not be overlooked.
It is by faith that a believer will kneel down and pray to the Lord God Almighty and expect the request to be answered. This is the recognition of the existence of God Almighty who has the power to provide to humanity each one of us according to our need. It is this prayer of faith that pleases God. It is written in Isaiah 1:18-19 that, God Almighty Jehovah can forgive sin. Therefore the act of repentance to the Lord God Jehovah Jireh is what certainly pleases Him, called “I am who I am”.
When it comes to Praise and Worship, only our true God Jehovah Jireh is supposed to be praised and worshipped for all the good things our Lord has done. He is supposed to be gloried in faith, it pleases my God when we address Him in the manner of faith, love and as we ask for peace and tranquility to reign in our time. This we do knowing an idol will not save us at all. (Isaiah 57:13). When we trust that our true God Almighty, God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, who is God of the living and not of the dead, will not abandon us in times of tribulation. Our trust in Him God Almighty pleases Him the Lord.
Faith is a strong belief and trust of greatest order in the immense and immeasurable powers of God, Almighty Jehovah Jireh to provide the needs of His people. And this is provided to each one of us purely according to our faith (Mathew 9:29). Faith is being in fellowship with our Lord. Faith is the cornerstone of our believing in Jesus Christ, that he is the Son of God (Hebrews 1:4-12). It is this believing that pleases God. That is believing before we see, it is all by faith. We are a blessed generation who depend entirely on faith, in believing in all matters of the kingdom of God (John 20:29). In this scripture, Jesus said to Thomas “You believe because you have seen me; blessed are those who believe without seeing”. In other words, this is believing entirely by faith. And this pleases God.
With faith there is no apathy, always a heart is filled with passion to serve God, it is always with faith that we shall be able to inspire others to follow Jesus Chris, believe and be saved only by his grace. We know by faith that God almighty is the source of our salvation. And this pleases God. In all what we do as believers, every activity that we get involved in to the glory of God, we must add faith, more so in our prayers. The disciples of Jesus were not ashamed to ask Jesus to increase their faith Luke 17:5. It is all about showing great confidence without doubt, (faith) to our God the Most High to Him everything is possible (Mathew 19:26).
