PF plans another anti-diplomat protest

WE shall protest against the 15 diplomats who accepted  United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema’s lunch  invitation if the UPND goes ahead with its planned solidarity march, Patriotic Front (PF) Lusaka Province youth chairperson Kennedy Kamba has warned.

Mr. Kamba said the plan by the UPND to hold a solidarity march to the 15 diplomats confirmed that the diplomatic community’s participation at Mr. Hichilema’s luncheon was not just a mere event but a politically motivated one.

He said there was need for the diplomats to stay away from the politics of the country by taking a  non-partisan stance rather than taking a frontline role in discussing the politics of the country warning that the ruling party will not tolerate diplomats who wanted to dictate to Zambians how they should govern themselves.

He said if the diplomatic community condoned the move by UPND to conduct a solidarity march, a protests from the ruling party against the embassies will be inevitable because it would be an indication that there was more to the luncheon than just being a mere visit.

“We will not condone any manoeuvres by the UPND to politicise the members of the diplomatic community since they are saying it was just a mere visit but if they go ahead, it will mean that they are confirming that the visit was politically motivated and we shall definitely react.

“If these members of the diplomatic community will condone this behaviour, then they should expect massive protests from us against them because they cannot dictate to us on how we should run our own affairs. The continued meddling on our affairs will not be tolerated anymore,” Mr. Kamba said.

He appealed to the police never to accept any notice from the UPND to carry out such a march in the best interest of peace because if they did, that would be the beginning of problems because the PF obliged when they were told not to conduct a solidarity march to the Chinese Embassy on Tuesday.

The UPND is planning to conduct a solidarity march to 15 embassies which honoured Mr. Hichilema’s luncheon two weeks ago after the PF delivered its solidarity message to the Chinese Embassy for staying away from the luncheon hosted by the UPND leader.
