Miles Sampa has no claim to the Democratic Front because none of his officials are registered at the patents and registration office, DF president David Chanda has insisted.
According to submissions in court Mr. Chanda has insisted that he was the legitimate president of the party and that all the records at the Patents and Company Registration Agency (PACRA) bore his name and the names of his officials and that there were no documents that showed that former deputy minister was the President.
He has in this regard argued that it was wrong for the Minister of Home Affairs to cancel the registration of his party because the party had done nothing wrong to merit the cancellation. He has further stated that Mr. N’gona who was featuring on behalf of Mr. Sampa’s DF was nowhere in the PACRA documentation and therefore did not merit to be heard by the courts of law.
Mr Chanda argued before court that there was only one DF party to which he was president which was also registered at the office of the Registrar of Societies.
In opposition however, Mr. Chanda has been accused of having handed over the leadership of the party on 9th December 2013 and minutes to this regard have been produced.
At yesterday’s hearings the matter in different forms came before two judges namely Judges Chalwe Mchengwa and Judy Mulongoti
