MBUNDA Royal Establishment spokesperson Kennedy Mubanga is eyeing the council chairmanship of the Kaoma district council in the August 11 general election.
Mr Mubanga said various stakeholders approached him to contest the position and that prompted him to accept the request.
“This serves to notify members of the general public and political stakeholders that I have been approached by our people in Kaoma District with a request that I contest the position of council chairperson in the Kaoma District Council in the forthcoming general election.
“And I have humbly accepted this request and therefore intend to contest the position on the Patriotic Front party ticket,” he said.
Mr Mubanga said he was working hand in hand with PF party members in Kaoma who were also willing to stand for various positions.
“I am however mindful and alive to the fact that Western Province is politically hard ground for the Patriotic Front party rather it is political acumen and suitability that I strongly believe will propel me to a landslide victory in the said election,” he said.
Mr Mubanga said he was a suitable candidate to hold that position and that he would ensure that public services were delivered to the public efficiently.
He said he would ensure that development was taken closer to the people, by ensuring that he transformed the tobacco farming community into a cooperative to put a stop to the massive exploitation of farmers by tobacco merchants usually through the exorbitant pricing of farm inputs and down grading of the final tobacco product. Mr Mubanga said he was in support of the Grade 12 certificate clause contained in the amended Constitution because such requirement would improve the standard of education in the country.
