SOME foreign nationals from Mozambique have been brought into Zambia by a political party to vote and cause violence, Zambia Direct Democracy Movement (ZDDM) president Edwin Sakala has said.
“These are in addition to those from Angola, Congo and Malawi, who have been hired to cause violence especially in Eastern Province,” he said.
Mr. Sakala called on the security wings in the country to quickly intervene and ensure that such illegal activities were stopped.
“We are aware that there are some political parties who are bringing in foreigners to come and cause confusion in the country during elections, such activities must not be entertained at all.
He noted that such activities were likely to breach the peace that the country had enjoyed over the years if left unaddressed.
“We are urging the people in charge of the security of this country to look into this issue as soon as possible, because the peace of the nation is at stake. Such illegal activities that can cause war and we don’t want that to happen, because Zambia is a peaceful nation,” he said.
Mr. Sakala further urged Zambians to remain peaceful and desist from violence even as the election date draws near.
He said that this was the chance to prove to the whole world that Zambia was the most peaceful country.
“I want to urge Zambians to remain calm and maintain the peace that we have continued to enjoy, let’s put Zambia on the map, by showing the world how peaceful we are as Zambians,” he said.
