A 27-year-old Data Entry Operator from the Ministry of Finance has denied having corruptly, solicited, obtained and accepted K 47,620, 00 as gratification from different persons.

Peter Kachamba  of house N0. 8 Mwapona Road , Woodlands who was arrested on 19  counts of  abuse of authority of office, theft by public servant  and corrupt practices  by a public officer contrary to the laws of Zambia denied the charges before Magistrate Kenneth Mulife.

He is in counts one, four , five, seven, nine, 12, 14 and 17 facing charges of abuse of authority of office contrary to the laws of Kachamba is alleged to have on dates August 10, this year, May 11, September 4, August 10 and September 7 and 10 last year being a public officer employed by the Ministry of Finance as Data Entry Operator and as a person concerned with matters of transactions, with powers and duties of collecting data for civil servants corruptly, solicited, obtained and accepted K 900 from Mutinta Sianga a Teacher as gratification to input her double class allowance.

Kachamba under the same charge is alleged to have corruptly, solicited, obtained and accepted K 4,200, K 700 , K 800 , K 1,500 , K 1,200 and K 3,500 from Pamela Yashini, Origin Mazuba, Pamela Chisanga and Simon Luwika, all teachers, as gratification to input their double class allowances.

He is in counts two, three, six, eight, 10, 11, 13 and 15 facing charges of theft by public servant contrary to the laws of Zambia.

It is alleged that Kachamba between  August 6 and 10, last year year did steal K 2,100 from Mutinta Sianga, Pamela Yashani,   Esther Michelo  and K 8,400 from Simon Luweka which came into his possession by virtue of his employment.

Kachamba is in count 19 facing a charge of corrupt practices by a public officer contrary to the laws of Zambia.

The matter was adjourned to March 21 for commencement of trial.
