The Bank of Zambia must explain why its lawyers Nchito and Nchito wanted to suppress evidence of wrong doing in the bank in fear of retribution. Civil activist has said.
There was no subjudice in demanding transparency from the bank in line with the finding of fact by the Supreme court that the bank through its lawyers wanted to suppress and hide information of wrong doing.
“This is what the Supreme Court found and the bank can only exonerate itself through an open inquiry in which member of the public will be told why and how the bank recruited the Nchito’s when they were also in the Task Force on Corruption thereby creating a serious conflict of interest.
Publishing advertisements was an abuse because it did not deal with issues at hand, if anything this is an attempt to continue to hide information under a technicality which the Supreme Court’s decision has rejected.
We are not asking for details of liquidation we are demanding to know how this very flawed decision was arrived at and why it was sustained for many years when it was obviously giving rise to abuses.
We expect the bank to be forthright and explain the relationship between officers in the bank between the bank and the Nchito brothers and why this relationship was allowed. This has nothing to do with the money matter which involves details of the liquidation.
