Zambian forward Given Singuluma won another medal in his club career after CAF Champions League holders TP Mazembe beat Etoile du Sahel 2-1 in the CAF Super Cup.
Singuluma was introduced in the 85th minute as he claimed his third CAF Super Cup medal to add to his three CAF Champions League medals since joining Mazembe in 2009.
Singuluma’s Continental medals include three CAF Champions League medals, two tCAF Super Cups medals, One CAF Champions League silver (runners up), One FIFA Club World Cup Silver and One CHAN bronze medal with Zambia. Plus his match ball after he struck a hat trick at the CHAN 2009 tournament and the latest adding up to nine major Medals. The 30 year old is arguably one of the most decorated Zambian players on the continent.
Singuluma also boasts of two FIFA Club World Cup tournaments appearing with a runners up medal. He also has CAF Champions League runners up medal.
On the international scene, Singuluma won bronze with Zambia at the inaugural CHAN tournament in 2009 in Ivory Coast were he also won the Golden Boot award.
He missed out on the 2012 African Cup of Nations trophy after he was left out by Herve Renard.
TP Mazembe coach Hubert Velud handed starting berth to right back Kabasa Chongo and the elegant Nathan Sinkala in midfield while Singuluma was on the bench.
Chipolopolo captain Rainford Kalaba did not make the final team as he was suspended following his red card in last year’s semifinal. Kalaba also missed the Champions League final.
Ghanaian striker Daniel Nii Adjei scored twice to set up Mazembe’s win. He opened the scoring for Mazembe after 20 minutes when he powered his header off a Jean Kasusula cross from the left beyond goalkeeper Aymen Mathlouthi.
Twenty-seven-year-old Adjei doubled his tally in the 45th minute, when he acrobatically finished off a lovely attack after he was set up by strike partner Jonathan Bolingi.
