TWO employees of Stanbic Bank have denied stealing K200,000 from the bank in the Lusaka Magistrates Court.

Brian Zimba, 34, of house no. 7840, Woodlands Extension, and Pearson Nyondo, 33, of plot 1/149 Kamwala South, denied the charge when they appeared before Magistrate Jennifer Bwalya.

Zimba and Nyondo told the court that they understood the charge which was leveled against them but denied stealing the money.

The duo are facing one count of theft by servant contrary to Section 272 of the laws of Zambia and were arrested on December 3 last year and have been on bond pending court proceedings.

Particulars of the offence allege that Zimba and Nyondo on unknown dates but between January 1 and September 3 last year jointly and while acting together with others unknown did steal K200,000 the property of Stanbic Bank which came into their possession by virtue of their employment.

They are expected to appear on March 2 for commencement of trial.
