Seven retired former Government employees in the Ministry of Health in Mwinilunga district have appealed to President Edgar Lungu to come to their aid and settle their benefits.

Speaking on behalf of the retired employees who stormed Daily Nation offices yesterday, Francis Kandongo said they were retired in 2012 but up to now have not yet  received money for leave days and repatriation.

‘’We are appealing to the President Edgar Lungu to come to our aid. From the time we were retired we have not received anything in terms of benefits,” Mr Kandongo said.

He complained that it had been very difficult for them to meet the demands of their family’s needs with a high cost of leaving prevailing in the country.

Mr Kandongo said the President must intervene in the matter to help them get their benefits if they were to sustain their lives adding that they are now forced to borrow money to feed and pay school fees for their children, a situation he described as desperate.

‘’It has become hard for us to survive considering the high cost of living that is prevailing in the country,” he said.
