Matero constituency councillors have been commended for taking development to their respects areas since they were voted into power.
The residents said the councillors had done a great job in the area and the people had a reason to be grateful because not all councilors were committed to developing their areas like the ones in Matero.
They claimed that because of that commitment Matero constituency had seen a number of development pr0jects that had benefitted the local people.
Rueben Maseko one of the residents said that Matero was developed in many areas and could be considered to be among the most developed constituencies in Lusaka.
Mr. Maseko said that the people of Matero had come to appreciate the efforts that their local leaders had made towards ensuring that they delivered the best services to the people of their area.
He said that Matero had developed and it was not because of one person but was as a result of the efforts of many people who worked together with one common goal to advance the lives of the people in the area.
“As residents of Matero we are really happy with the works that have taken place in our area and the ones that are still being worked on, we are people we know how to appreciate, the Bembas say ‘uushitasha mwana wandonshi’ and that is why I think we as residents should give credit where it is due.
“Our councillors have tried to do the best job for us Matero is big and it really needs the hard work of all the councilors that they manages to carter for all the wards and ensuring that they take development everywhere,’’ said Mr. Maseko.
Mercy Mwansa another Matero resident said that the area had a good clinic, a police post, a new bridge, while people have running water in their homes with new toilets that had been constructed at the market.
Ms. Mwansa said that Matero now had good roads and this had reduced the number of road traffic accidents in the area and made it possible for people to move and conduct their businesses and other activities at ease.
She said it was just right that the residents attested to the developments in their area because they were the ones that were benefiting from all the works and projects in the area. And Muchinga ward 23 area councillor, Lee Mukupa, said the councillors were determined to deliver to the people at all cost.
Mr. Mukupa also appealed to the residents not to vandalise public property that was meant for their well-being.
