EXPELLED MMD Lunte Member of Parliament Felix Mutati has charged that he has never joined the United Party for National Development (UPND) and has instructed his lawyer Sakwiba Sikota to take legal action against the opposition party for using his face on the party campaign calendar without his authorization.
But the MMD has maintained that the decision to expel Mr Mutati was final and the National Executive Committee (NEC) would not be swayed into reversing the decision even if he decided to sue the former ruling party.
MMD acting spokesperson Rev. Reuben Sambo said yesterday in Lusaka that the party’s action was backed by its constitution.
Commenting on the NEC’s decision to expel Mr. Mutati, Rev. Sambo said the NEC had no other disciplinary option apart from expelling him from the party because there was a clause in his re-admittance into the party after his initial expulsion last year which provided that expulsion was the ultimate decision if he ever brought the name of the party into disrepute again.
He said the NEC pardoned Mr. Mutati last year and re-admitted him into the party butt added that his recent behaviour did not befit a person who had shown repentance and therefore deserved to be expelled.
