MMD should stop playing double standard and state whether they are interested in an alliance with the Patriotic Front or not, says National Revolution Party (NRP) president Cosmo Mumba.
“MMD are playing double standards on the alliance. Let them openly declare that the alliance is on or over. The purported meeting they have been waiting for with the head of state is not a meeting that will delay, so if MMD is interested to be in an alliance with the PF what are they waiting for?” he said
Dr Mumba said there was no time for MMD to start announcing intentions on the alliance but to openly declare whether there is an agreement or not.
He also said all parties wishing to form alliances either with the opposition or ruling party should declare them when there was still time.
‘’ Our plea is all alliances in this country being formed by either opposition political parties or the ruling party should be formidable now and declare their agreements and not intentions because there is no time to declare intentions now,” Dr Mumba explained.
He said all parties should emulate the Orange alliance which had recently announced its presidential candidate Miles Sampa.
Dr Mumba said the MMD should announce their stance as soon as they could for them to work with the PF whom already had a presidential candidate in President Edgar Lungu.
“The Orange alliance has declared and they have announced their presidential candidate who is Miles Sampa, the Patriotic Front already has a presidential candidate who is Edgar Lungu,” the party leader said.
Mr Mumba said his party was ready to form an alliance with the PF whether he was adopted as the presidential running mate or not.
He explained that he was willing to work with the PF in an alliance whenever the ruling party was ready to work with him.
