AFRICAN Development Bank (AfDB) president Akinwumi Adesina arrived in the country yesterday to check on the preparations for the 2016 AfBD annual meeting to be held in Lusaka next month.

Dr Adesina is today expected to tour the Mulungushi International Conference Centre where the meeting will be held.

He is also expected to have a series of meetings which would include one with President Edgar Lungu and other Government officials to discuss areas of cooperation with the AfDB.

Speaking on arrival at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, Dr Adesina said he was happy to visit Zambia especially that it was his first time.

Dr Adesina, who thanked Zambia and President Lungu for accepting to host the annual meeting, said he was looking forward to tour the conference venue.

Meanwhile, Secretary to the Treasury Fredson Yamba who welcomed Dr Adesina said most of the works at the venue was done.

Mr Yamba assured the Dr Adesina that Government was fully prepared to host the meeting.

He thanked Dr Adesina for according Zambia a chance to host the meeting.
