A case in which Matero member of Parliament Miles Sampa was granted leave for judicial review over Home Affairs Minister Davies Mwila’s decision to revoke and cancel the certificate of registration of Democratic Front Party failed to take off yesterday.

This was after chief State advocate Joe Simachela told the court that the State needed more time to respond to the application.

Mr Simachela, from the Attorney General’s office, made the application before Judge Judy Mulongoti when the matter came up for inter-parte hearing in the Lusaka High Court.  And Mr Sampa’s lawyers Keith Mweemba and Gilbert Phiri said they had no objection to the application.

Justice Ms Mulongoti set February 19 as date for inter-parte hearing.

Earlier this week, the Lusaka High Court granted Mr Sampa leave to apply for judicial review in a matter in which Mr  Mwila revoked and cancelled the certificate of registration for DF. Ms Mulongoti also ordered that the judicial review should operate as a stay as prayed.
