Webster Mwenya appeared before Magistrate Muzambalika Simwatachela accused of damaging a glass door, two motor vehicle windows, a windscreen, a side view mirror and 12 window panes all valued at K50,000.

Mwenya is facing one count of malicious damage to property.

He is alleged to have jointly and while acting together with others wilfully and unlawfully damaged a glass door, two motor vehicles windows, a windscreen, a side view mirror and 12 window panes all valued at K50,000 property of MMD secretariat.

He was granted bail of K15,000 with two working sureties in the sum of K20,000 each.

The case was adjourned to February 24 for commencement of trial. Mwenya and others were arrested at the MMD secretariat when two MMD factions clashed at the party’s secretariat in Lusaka when a group calling for a party convention tried to deliver a petition and were stoned by supporters of party president Nevers Mumba.
