THE Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI) in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) project called Yapasa will be holding a conference on soybeans value chain from April 7-8 in Lusaka to encourage investment in the sector.

Yapasa is also known as Rural Youth Enterprises for Food Security. According to ZACCI, the objective of the conference was alignment of the soybean sub-sector partner and stakeholder efforts to common implementation frameworks.

The conference, which will be officially opened by Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry permanent secretary Ms Kayula Siame in Lusaka, aims at bringing together the soybeans value chain supporters at different levels mainly the donor supported organisations and relevant line ministries.  The workshop set the ground for a wider stakeholder dialogue event involving various actors along the value chain such as input suppliers, producers, processors, consumers, financiers as well as sector supporters. The objective was to enable sector stakeholders discuss and share specific challenges, opportunities and recommendations for improvement.

It would also enable Yapasa and other value chain supporters understand the challenges and opportunities in the sector to guide effective design of interventions that respond to real issues faced by market players

ZACCI was confident that the workshop will further present opportunity for market players and other stakeholders to network.
