FORMER Zambia Air force (ZAF) officer Colonel Pandala Banda who was arrested and charged with murder for allegedly killing his wife has been committed to the Lusaka High Court for trial.

This was after State prosecutor Febby Kalala informed the court that she had received instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to commit Col Banda to the High Court for commencement of trial.

Banda, a Lusaka lawyer who is being represented by Mr Mark Haimbe, appeared before Magistrate Jennifer Bwalya for mention and his subsequent committal to the High Court.

Ms Bwalya read out the charge to Banda, who acted confused in court, and when asked whether he had understood the charge, he responded that he did.

It is alleged that Banda, 64, a practicing lawyer, on an unknown date but between October 27 and 28 last year in Lusaka allegedly murdered his wife, Vivian Ilukena Banda, during a marital dispute.
