DIVISION One team City of Lusaka and Nkana yesterday stormed the finals of the Four-Club tournament after beating Napsa Stars and Lusaka Tigers respectively.
The semi-final double header played yesterday at Lusaka’s Nkoloma Stadium kicked off with Super Division side NAPSA and City of Lusaka with both teams exchanging possession in the first half.
NAPSA struggled to break City of Lusaka defence who seemed determined to prove they were better than the Super Division team.
City of Lusaka started the final half on full force registering their win through a cracker from Clement Mundia in the 49th minute to reach the finals.
NAPSA upped their game but could not upset the result as City of Lusaka packed at their half.
Meanwhile, in the other semi-final, Walter Bwalya’s brace in the final half gave Nkana a 2-0 win over Tigers.
In first half, Tigers put up an impressive run sending a scare to the Kitwe giants Nkana.
However, it was a different story in second half as Nkana improved their play dominating the midfield and the wings exposing Tigers weak defence too.
Tiger’s coach Chanda Mwape said his boys put up a good fight despite failing to reach the finals of the tournament.
“It was a good preparatory for the boys as we look ahead to the opening MTN/FAZ premier season next month. Nkana gave us a good game and exposed our weakness. The boys played well in first half but lost concentration in the last half,” he said.
Nkana and City of Lusaka will face off this afternoon in a final at Nkoloma Stadium.
