ZANACO, Power predict tough Charity Shield

ZANACO and Power Dynamos have predicted a hard-hitting semi final of the Samuel ‘Zoom” Ndhlovu Charity Shield as they gear up to face rivals Green Buffaloes and Zesco United respectively on February 20.

Coach Numba Mumamba said in an interview yesterday his lads should be geared for a tough much because Green Buffaloes had tremendously improved.

Mumamba said despite beating the Zambia Army sponsored side away and drawing at home last season, he was expecting a different ball game.

“We may have had a better record last season but this year is a different one. Green Buffaloes made a great improvement in the second round of the season and even managed to win the Barclays title,

“ This means we are facing a tough rival. We must be ready for a tough match against them but we must fight to win,” he said. He was not worried of the players’ fitness levels because they recently participated in the Four club tournament and finished second.

“ The Four Club tournament was a good preparatory for the boys and I expect a better performance on February 20.We will not underrate Green Buffaloes as we fight for the trophy,’  he said.

Meanwhile, Power Dynamos coach Tenant Chilumba said the team was ready for the tough challenge against defending champions ZESCO.

“We are ready for the tournament although I cannot predict the result. ZESCO is a strong side that always gives us a good game. The players’ fitness level is almost there as we are in pre season training,” he said.

He said the tournament will be an eye opener for him to assess players strengthens and weaknesses before the kick-off of the 2016 MTN/FAZ Super League on March 12.

“The tournament will give each team an insight of the players likely to hit the mark this season. I expect competitive play among players especially the new inclusions,” he said.

Chilumba said his team had a big responsibility to put up a good show in all the 2016 competitions especially after a disappointing third finish last season.

“The boys have a big challenge this year. We need to work hard to finish on top two positions this season. Missing the continental slot was a big disappointment but we can surely erase that record this year,” he said.

FAZ on Wednesday announced the semi-final fixture for the 2016 Samuel “Zoom” Ndhlovu Cup for February 20 while the finals will be on March 5.
