THE delay to construct a three-kilometre road in Mtendere East has angered the residents who have called on their area Member of Parliament Professor Nkandu Luo and councillor Benjamin Chanda to do something about the situation.

The residents complained that completion of the road was supposed to have taken place last year, but little progress had been made since then.

Mr John Kabungo, a resident who lived on the same road said it was irritating that even after evacuating residents to pave way for the construction of the road, nothing much had been done.

“The road had many pot holes and the MP promised residents to tar the road to ease access and movement; I had a kantemba on this road, but I brought it down after we were asked to create room for the road construction. Since early last year nothing much has been done on the road,” he said.

Another resident Mwango Siame said the residents were hoping that the road would be completed in time, but ever since the graders and bulldozers cleared the area, nothing else had been done.

Mr. Siame complained that the road was getting worse since it has been left uncompleted.

He called on the area MP and councillor to ensure that the construction of the road was completed as soon as possible.

Prof Luo and Chanda could not be immediately reached for a comment.
