Democratic Front (DF) leader David Chanda has maintained that he is still interim president of the party.

And Home Affairs spokesperson Moses Suwali has confirmed that Mr Chanda appeared before the Registrar of Societies where he was clarifying the matter.

Mr Chanda said no other paper have been filed at the Registrar of Societies to alter the details of the registration of DF.

He said he did not understand how Matero Member of Parliament Miles Sampa acquired the leadership of the DF because he had been active in the Patriotic Front until the day he announced his resignation.

Mr Chanda said there was no political party in the country that entertained dual membership.

He said this shortly after a closed door meeting with the Registrar of Societies.

And Mr Suwali said investigations into the matter were still underway to enable the Ministry give a comprehensive statement on the matter.

He appealed to Mr Sampa to avail himself to the Registrar of Societies so that the other side of the story could be told.
