ZNFU board to meet over cash scandal

THE discredited Zambia National Farmers Union’s board of directors is expected to meet some time this week to respond to the damning  report of massive fraud and plunder exposed by a donor audit.

Angry farmers have called on the Government and the Ministry of Agriculture in particular to institute an independent investigation because some board members including former presidents were complicit and therefore compromised through loans and unconstitutional financial benefits.

Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) has exposed the plunder and looting of the farmers union by its management.

More than K34 billion (old currency) has allegedly been looted through fraud and other financial transgressions which has prompted the Swedish and Finnish governments to threaten to freeze aid to ZNFU unless management and other senior officials at the institution stepped down and refunded the money.
