A 36-year-old businessman of Lusaka appeared in the Lusaka Magistrates Court charged with facilitating in trafficking persons.
Boston Sinyangwe of house no. 83/31 Garden House, Lusaka, appeared in court after he was arrested for aiding in trafficking an Ethiopian national into the country.
However he did not take plea but he is expected to do so this week as his docket was not brought before court.
Sinyangwe is charged with one count of facilitating in trafficking persons contrary to Section 3 (1) read together with Section 7 (1) of the Anti-Human Trafficking Act of 2008 of the laws of Zambia.
It is alleged that Sinyangwe on unknown dates but between January 11 and 14 this year, while acting together with others unknown and being in charge of a motor vehicle, did facilitate in trafficking Daniel Abiyo by unlawfully removing him from Levy Mwanawasa Hospital where he was admitted and receiving treatment and transported him to Mazabuka so that he could proceed to South Africa where he was being trafficked.
Sinyangwe was arrested on January 14 and released on bond.
