A MALE nurse of a private hospital in Lusaka is expected to appear in the Lusaka Magistrates Court for allegedly defiling a girl under the age of 16.

Clifford Mundongo, 32, of  Libala South, is expected to appear before Magistrate Faides Hamaundu.

He has been remanded in custody and yesterday  could not appear before court as he was not brought from Woodlands police station.

Mundongo is facing a charge of defilement of a child contrary to Section 138 of the laws of Zambia.

It is alleged that Mundongo on dates unknown but between September 1 and December 6 last year had unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 16.

He is expected to appear for plea on January 18.

In another court, a 27-year-old man of Lusaka’s Ng’ombe compound appeared for malicious damage of a betting machine valued at K70,000 property of Bettings Casino.

Isaac Phiri did not take plea due to the absence of the trial magistrate.

It is alleged that Phiri on January 1 this year wilfully and unlawfully damaged a betting machine valued at K70,000 property of  Bettings Casino.
