FRECCA Mining and Manufacturing Limited,  a company contracted by Government to upgrade the 100-km Mwinilunga-Jimbe road which connects Zambia to neighbouring Angola to bituminous standard, has mobilized on site.

FRECA chief executive officer Fred Kasongu said in an interview that the two-year contract with Government at a cost of over US$100,000 would involve road designs, compacting and grading among other works up to bituminous standard.

Mr. Kasongu has since assured both Government and the local people of Ikelenge and Mwinilunga districts of quality works, adding that his company would do everything possible to complete the project before the stipulated time frame.

He has appealed to people in the two districts to support the project for effective implementation as it would also create direct jobs for the local people. And Patriotic Front (PF) Mwinilunga district chairperson Daniel Manjomba has welcomed the development, describing it as a dream come true as people in the area had been longing to see  the road worked on.

Mr. Manjomba said once the road was done it would not only ease people’s movements in the region but also accelerate trade between Zambia and Angola.
