Police spokesperson Charity Munganga-Chanda confirmed to the Daily Nation yesterday that Dr Mwaanga was summoned in relation to a complaint made against him over a newspaper article in which it was reported that he had alleged that the general elections could be rigged..

On Monday, Kabushi aspiring candidate and MMD national youth secretary Bowman Lusambo reported Dr Mwaanga to the Lusaka Central police to explain his statements concerning alleged electoral malpractices in Zambia.

“Yes, police have summoned Dr Mwaanga to appear at the Lusaka Central police tomorrow (today) morning at 09 hours to answer to allegations against him. This is in relation to a report made against him and we are expecting him at the station tomorrow morning,” Ms Munganga said.

Dr Mwaanga when contacted over his summoning said he could not comment on the matter and advised that the statement from the police should be taken as to was.
