YOUTH entrepreneurs whose businesses are operational and funded by the Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) will be competing for cash prizes of up to K250, 000 to expand their businesses in the upcoming TV reality show competition called Mbonge: The market place.
Mbonge was an exhilarating reality TV show that follows the journey of CEEC funded youth entrepreneurs as they compete for cash prizes to expand their businesses.
CEEC chief executive officer Likando Mukumbuta said the idea was to show the public what the young people were doing with their money and to educate the public on the business practices.
Mr Mukumbuta said the show would also be used to motivate young people that were participating to perform well.
“The idea of the show is to show the public what the young people are doing with their money and to use the show as a way to educate the public on the business practices,
“It will also for motivating young people that are participating in projects for them to perform well,” he said.
He explained that auditions would run from the 18th to 21st of January at the Mass Media complex in Lusaka and later move to other provinces. He said 30 contestants would be picked in the first round followed by eliminations through judging which would result in 10 being kicked out of the completion.
“Then later public voting will be introduced until we get the top 3 candidates who will win the prizes. 1st prize is K250, 000 for expansion financing, second prize is K150, 000 and the third prize will be K100, 000,” he said.
Mr Mukumbuta said the competition would have tasks and challenges to win just like in other reality shows. The business reality show was aimed at promoting and rewarding positive entrepreneurship culture among the youth in Zambia and would demonstrate the powerful role they were playing in growth and job creation in Zambia.
