MMD is financially stable, alive and ready for this year’s general elections, MMD Party President Dr Nevers Mumba has said.
Dr Mumba was reacting to MMD Mansa District information and publicity secretary Kalunga Phiri who alleged that MMD in Mansa had directed its members to look for alternative political parties to join because the former ruling party was broke and lacked support to win the 2016 general election.
Mr Phiri was quoted having stated that it would be unwise for MMD members to continue holding on to the party which had no future for them.
“Even myself, I am searching for a political party to join. I am looking for a party with capacity to serve the people of Zambia not MMD,” he said.
But Dr Mumba told the Daily Nation in an interview that Mr Phiri was not a Mansa District information and publicity secretary but was expelled from the party.
He said it was not normal for a party member to urge his members to join other political parties even if the party was sinking.
Meanwhile, Dr Mumba has advised journalist against quoting people who give themselves fake titles without getting clarifications from senior party officials.
He said he had directed his national secretary to take stern action against imposters who issued fake statements to the public on behalf of the party.
Dr Mumba urged the media not to be part of political destalisation during and after elections.
