Angola club chases after Katongo

ANGOLAN Football Club Kabuscorp is chasing after the signature of Zambia national soccer team skipper Christopher Katongo with a lucrative deal offer of about US$30,000 (K330, 000) monthly salary.

The club that plays in the Angolan major league Girabola is ready to acquire the services of Katongo who will be leading the African Nations Championship (CHAN) squad in Rwanda.

A source revealed that Kabuscorp is among the three clubs that are eyeing the 2012 African Nations Cup medalist and Green Buffaloes team captain. However, Kabuscorp have not yet tabled their interest in Katongo before Green Buffaloes Football Club.

Katongo has recently stated that he was hoping to play international football before hanging up his boots.

“I have been working hard to recover from injury. I still have the energy in my legs to play and I am still targeting to play outside before retiring,” he said. Katongo inspired Green Buffaloes to their maiden victory in the 2015 Barclays Cup in which he scored one goal in a 2-0 final win over Nkwazi on November 21 at Lusaka’s Nkoloma Stadium.

The burly striker has featured in  German side Armenia Bielefeld, South African sides Bidvest Wits and Jomo Cosmos.
