PATRIOTIC Front (PF) youths yesterday staged a solidarity match in support of President Edgar Lungu’s decision to sign the Constitution Amendment Bill which is scheduled to be assented to on Tuesday at the Heroes Stadium.
Kelvin Sampa a PF member and aspiring candidate for the Kasama Central seat has called on Zambians to support President Lungu because the Head of State had demonstrated that he could be trusted by delivering a people-driven Constitution which had for many years a political rhetoric slogan.
Mr. Sampa said the decision by President Lungu to assent to the Constitution Amendment Bill was a clear testimony of his commitment to what he had promised Zambians during his campaigns.
Mr. Sampa told Zambia National Broadcasting Cooperation (ZNBC) before the solidarity match that President Lungu needed the support of all Zambians for having been the only Head of State to have walked the talk over the constitution-making process.
And PF media committee member Benjamin Siwila said President Lungu’s decision to look into the plight of men and women in uniform in the country should be commended.
Mr. Siwila said the project to build houses for police officers across the country was an indication that President Lungu is committed to improve the conditions of workers.
He stated that President Lungu had also shown goodwill to men and women in uniform through his interactions during the 2015 annual ball events.
Mr. Siwila urged Zambians to turn up in large numbers to give support to President Lungu on Tuesday when he would be signing the Constitutional Amendment Bill.
Mr. Siwila says the opposition political parties must participate because what will be done on Tuesday is for the benefit of all Zambians.
