I’m still UPND, says Kafwaya

NORTH-WESTERN Province Minister Benson Kafwaya has refuted assertions by the United Party for National Development (UPND) that he has resigned from the opposition political party to join the Patriotic Front (PF).

Mr Kafwaya said he had never contemplated resigning from the UPND and that it was malicious for the party deputy spokesperson Edwin Lifwekelo to assert that he had defected to the PF.

Mr Kafwaya said the UPND leadership should have consulted him before issuing a statement to the effect that he had jumped ship and had joined the PF where he was serving as  provincial minister.

Mr Lifwekelo told the Daily Nation on Monday that Mr Kafwaya had been honest in his political aspirations by officially resigning from the UPND to join the PF when in fact it was not true.
