Policeman arrested over graft allegations

A Police man has been arrested for alleged corrupt practices involving K3, 000, the Anti-Corruption Commission in Kitwe has revealed.

ACC public relations manager Timothy Moono said Peter Masandiko, 43, of Flat 1 Wusakile Police Camp, a police prosecutor at the Kitwe subordinate court, was arrested last Friday.

Mr Moono said Mr Masandiko was subsequently charged with one count of corrupt practices by public servant.

He said details of the alleged offence were that Mr Masandiko, between December 1, 2015 and December 20, 2015 solicited for K2, 000 and actually received K1,000 cash gratification as an inducement or reward for him to arrange bail for a Mr Mutale Mulenga who stood charged with one count of obtaining pecuniary advantage at the Kitwe Magistrates Court.

The matter or transaction concerned the Zambia Police and the Judiciary, both public bodies.   Mr Moono said Mr Masandiko has since been released on bond and would appear in court soon.
